ROWE HIGHTEC SYNT RS LONGLIFE IV SAE 0W-20

ROWE Hightec Synt RS Longlife IV SAE 0W-20 is a fully synthetic low-friction engine oil approved to VW 508 00/509 00 and Porsche C20. Developed for modern petrol and diesel engines with exhaust aftertreatment systems, it is an ACEA C5 fuel-economy oil. Etron Parts & Tools supplies it in 200-litre drums.

Which engines this oil is approved for

• VW 508 00 / 509 00 — the current VW Group long-life standard for low-viscosity engines

• Porsche C20 — Porsche 0W-20 applications

These approvals are not backward compatible. An engine specified for VW 508 00 must not be filled with a 504 00 oil, and the reverse is equally wrong. The specifications describe different friction and aftertreatment requirements, not merely different thicknesses.

What 0W-20 and ACEA C5 actually buy you

0W-20 is a low-viscosity grade, and low viscosity exists for one reason: reduced internal friction, and therefore lower fuel consumption. ACEA C5 is the class that combines that fuel-economy requirement with the low-SAPS chemistry an aftertreatment system needs.

The trade-off is that the oil film is thinner. That is engineered for and safe in engines designed for it, and a genuine risk in engines that were not. This is why the approval matters more than the grade.

Packaging and volume

Supplied as a 200-litre drum. At that size, packaging and handling drive the delivered cost as much as the product does — a drum is the lowest cost per litre but needs handling equipment and floor space. Case quantities available on request.
