What this blanket actually does

It does not extinguish a fire. It isolates one.

Deployed over a burning vehicle, the blanket cuts off the oxygen feeding the fire. The vehicle burns itself out under containment while the building, the adjacent vehicles and the people around it stay outside the event. No water is required, which matters in a workshop where water on a high-voltage system creates a second problem.

Why an EV fire is a different problem

A lithium-ion battery in thermal runaway generates its own oxygen and can reignite hours after it appears to be out. An extinguisher interrupts combustion; it does nothing about a cell chain that is still propagating inside a sealed pack.

Containment is the only response a workshop can realistically execute alone. That is what this product is for.

Car Pro X or Car Standard 2 — how to choose

The deciding factor is deployment frequency, not price.

Car Standard 2 uses a pyroxene core and is reusable up to 10 times. It suits a single site holding one blanket for an event that may never come.

Car Pro X uses a graphite core and is reusable up to 30 times, with eyelets around the edge for controlled handling. It suits fire services, towing yards, car transport, parking operators and dealerships — anywhere the blanket is expected to be used, trained with, and used again.

A workshop deploying once in five years does not need 30 reuses. A fire station does.

Certification

DIN SPEC 91489 is the one to quote to an insurer or a safety auditor. Before November 2024 there was no common test for EV fire blankets, and "fire blanket" described products of very different capability. It is what gives a compliance officer something to point at.
