The high-voltage test module VAS 6558A is used for carrying out measurement and testing tasks on hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles of the Volkswagen Group.

The functions of the device include:

• Measuring the DC voltage (absence of operating voltage)

• Measuring the insulation resistance (calculating the insulation resistance using current and voltage measurements)

• Measuring the insulation resistance in line with SAE J1766 (measurement under load with parallel resistor)

• Measuring the electric resistance

• Diode measurements

• Potential equalisation measurements

In the safety-relevant area of the high-voltage equipment, the high-voltage test module VAS 6558A ensures that workshop employees can only carry out the measurement and testing tasks step by step using the Guided Fault Finding function of the Offboard Diagnostic Information System service.
